The committee has been constituted under the chairpersonship of the chief secretary to oversee the implementation of the UID project in the state. Nine departments have been made participatory.

Gulati said this ambitious project besides providing a unique identity to each citizen would also enhance efficiency in delivery of benefits and services especially to the poor and the marginalised through accurate identification of beneficiaries. Hence, it was imperative for the participating departments to contribute and integrate their efforts for accumulation of fully authentic database as per the standards of the UIDAI and by addressing state specific issues, she directed.
