The income tax (I-T) department’s search operation at Hyderabad-based infrastructure firm Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC)’s various offices across the country, which began on Wednesday, continued on Thursday as well.
“The investigation is currently on and the I-T sleuths are still scrutinising certain documents and files. The operation will continue till Friday,” a source close to the development said, adding the I-T officials seized some records pertaining to the company’s last three financials and documents on alleged tax evasion by the company.
According to company sources, the I-T sleuths are verifying the documents on the top floor of NCC’s headquarters here. The searches are aimed at some of the projects that the company handled in an eastern state (Jharkhand) of the country. “A clear picture on the issue will be known only by tomorrow evening,” the official said.
