Heads of the leading business chambers — Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) and Assocham — on Monday said industry has “equal responsibility”, with the government, to pull the economy out of slowdown without always “cribbing about policy paralysis”.
Asked to comment on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressing disappointment over the negative comments from industry about the government, Ficci President Harsh Mariwala said, “We need to take equal responsibility. We need to work together in 2012. We cannot go on blaming each other.”
Assocham President Dilip Modi struck a similar reconciliatory chord. “He (Prime Minister) has his own compulsions.” Modi said instead of “flagging the issue and cribbing about”, the industry should tweak and explore the business possibilities that still exist.
