The state-of-the-art Infosys campus in Pune will now be provided security by a special commando-trained unit of more than 130 CISF personnel to thwart any possible terror attack or sabotage.

The software giant's Pune facility is its third campus to have been brought under the cover of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after the Bangalore and Mysore premises. A total of 134 personnel, led by an Assistant Commandant (AC) rank officer, will be deployed soon and will render access control and quick armed reaction to any threat emanating to the facility, a senior CISF officer in the national capital said.

Vehicle mounted Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) armed with sophisticated weapons will keep a tight vigil at the campus, located at Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Pune's Hinjewadi also known as the Information Technology hub of the city. The facility is one of the most prominent buildings in the IT city.

The CISF security team will perform "anti-terrorist and anti-sabotage" duties and the personnel will not be responsible for "watch and ward" duties which will continue to be provided by private security guards employed at the campus. The paramilitary CISF was mandated to protect the private sector with an amendment in the CISF Act in the aftermath of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.
