IRCTC, which recently launched air ticketing facility on its website, today said about 1500 tickets are being sold everyday through its portal helping it rake in Rs 50 lakh each day.

The online air ticketing facility was launched on May 5 and since then there has been a steady rise in booking of air tickets on its site www.Railtourismindia.Com.

"At present ticket sales have reached a level of 1500 per day with a turnover of about Rs. 50.00 lakhs each day," said an IRCTC spokesperson.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's website, which also offers railway tickets, is considered the largest e commerce site in Asia Pacific and a leading service provider in the tourism sector.

The website is offering 10 per cent cash back offer on purchase of air tickets and this has further raised air ticket booking on this website, the spokesperson said.

IRCTC, a railway PSU, also enables people book hotel rooms and offers car rentals and tour packages services among others.
