The auction of Gujarat’s popular mango variety-Kesar-was kicked-off auction today at Talala Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC).
The arrival of Kesar mango has started a month earlier this season.
The data provided by Talala APMC, known for Kesar mango trading, suggest that 8400 boxes (each box contain 10 kg) of Kesar mango were auctioned on the first day and the price was quoted at Rs 150-300 per box. Last year, the auction was started on 5th May and 8200 boxes were traded on the first day with opening price of Rs 140-350 per box. Average price of Kesar mango was Rs 208 per box last season.
According to APMC arrival will increased after 15-20 days and price will also come down. “Talala APMC had seen total arrival of 6.31 lakh boxes in 2009. This year we are expecting 9 lakh boxes during the season”, said Harsukh Jarsaniya, secretary, Talala APMC. The auction will end in June.
