Khadi research centre mooted

Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialisation (MGIRI) has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for a research and development centre at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Virbhadra Singh, union cabinet minister for MSME’s on Monday.

The centre inter alia requires contribution from Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and from Gujarat Khadi Gramodyog Mandal, an official statement quoted Singh as saying. Singh mentioned that he has requested the ministry of rural development to consider including khadi and coir spinning activities in the list of permissible activities.
