As part of its endeavour to computerize land records, the Orissa government has decided to keep all land records at the Central server.
"The land records at 177 tehsil offices have been computerized and these records will be made available at the Central server. The state has 316 tehsil offices in all and the remaining tehsil offices will also be computerized”, S N Patra, minister for revenue and disaster management told reporters after a review meeting chaired by the state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The minister also said that the maps of all the 30 districts of the state will be scanned, digitized and updated.
In the first phase, the maps of Ganjam, Khurda, Cuttack and Keonjhar will be digitized followed by the other districts in the next phase. Around 500 maps will be digitized every day, Patra informed. The revenue department will also examine the possibility of setting up a sub-registry office at every tehsil, he stated. Three training schools have been set up in Bhubaneswar, Khallikote and Sambalpur for training staff of tehsil offices and these schools will be strengthened.
