Plagued by reports of corruption at the zilla parishad and municipality levels, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today warned corrupt party workers with expulsion.
"Corruption will not be tolerated at any cost. It will lead to ouster from the party. Anyone indulging in corruption irrespective of position in the party will not be spared," she said days after publicly asking industry not to pay those seeking money on behalf of the party.
"We have not come to power to enjoy life, but to serve the people. Ministerial positions are nothing to me. I have not taken my salary as yet after becoming chief minister," said Banerjee, who was re-elected unopposed as the party's national chairperson.
"I do not spare anyone in my family or even outside for any wrong," she said.
