Likening Railway Budget as old wine in new bottle, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has slammed the proposals regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) and privatisation in the Railways.
She expressed reservations regarding privatisation in the Railways unless a clear government policy on giving reservation to dalits and disadvantaged sections in the private sector had been formulated.
Mayawati said while the proposals of Bullet and high speed trains were on track, yet the Budget was largely gloomy for ordinary passengers.
She lamented the Budget also failed to meet popular expectations of rolling back of the hike in passenger and cargo tariffs, which had been effected in run up to the Budget.
