The Home Ministry is all set to expand its social media outreach by launching a 'Twitter Seva' service with an aim to centralise its grievance redressal mechanism by bringing all social media handles under one roof.

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on Thursday discussed the issue with a delegation of Twitter led by Raheel Khursheed, Head of Twitter Seva for South Asia and South East Asia, and chalked out plans for the launch of the ministry's 'Twitter Seva'.

Under the new service, a tweet to any Twitter handle of the ministry will automatically land in the 'Twitter Seva' platform which will provide for prompt resolution of the grievances of public.

The authorities concerned will be assigned to resolve problems and difficulties of people on a real-time basis, a Home Ministry official said.

The Home Ministry has nearly 10 Twitter handles, including two belonging to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and one each belonging to Union Ministers of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Hansraj Ahir.
