MITS group signs MoU with Turkey govt for food park

The state based MITS group, which is building a mega food park in Rayagada district under the Public Private Partnership mode, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Turkish government for setting up of food processing units.

“We have signed MoU with the Government of Turkey for setting up of food processing units in the state. The Turkish companies are interested to establish cashew and nuts processing industries here”, said Sriram Panda, Managing Director, MITS Mega Food Park Limited.Panda was speaking at a seminar on Food Processing Investment organized by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) at Cuttack.Panda along with the Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa Ltd (Idco) officials had visited Turkey in January to attend Turkey and India Investment and Cooperation Opportunities Meeting (INCOM 2012) organized jointly by West Mediterranean Development Agency of Turkey and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce of Industry (Ficci).

It may be noted that Ministry of Food Processing Industries had given in-principle approval for setting up mega food park in Rayagada in April last year.

The food park is promoted jointly by MITS group, Idco, Keventer Agro Ltd and Expo Biotech, having interest in food processing and biotechnology.
