It's been 10 and counting for the Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi, who on Friday completed a decade in office. However, the celebration of the completion of a decade in office comes at a time when the chief minister is surrounded with controversies on all fronts.

For instance, the arrest of suspended Gujarat IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt has been just one of the controversial decisions in Chief Minister Narendra Modi's long 10-year rule in the state.

Modi, who had never contested a civic body elections before taking the charge as the chief minister, was brought to the office for successively two times. His supporters call it the pro-development approach of Modi that has improved the standard of living of the citizens of Gujarat. On the other hand, his critics blame him to be Hindu hard liner and his development biased towards select industrialists and a particular section of the society.

Moreover, even as BJP celebrates completion of a decade as the state ruling party, the opposition party Congress took a dig on the former.

"The Gujarat government's celebrations of completion of 10 years at the Secratariat is riding on the back of industrial and agriculture growth. However, the same has declined in all these years. For instance, except for cotton, land under cultivation has declined in other crops under the incumbent government," claimed Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela.

The recent times, Gujarat has been able to attract the likes of Tata Motors, Ford India and PSA Peugeot Citroen for setting up automobile manufacturing plants. While the small car Nano is already rolling out from its Sanand, the rest two are in the process of setting up their respective plants, taking the state closer to being an auto hub.
