Union power minister Veerappa Moily assured the Maharashtra government he would consider their plea on adequate allocation of gas for the Dabhol and Uran power projects.
As far as Dabhol project is concerned, he assured that he would seek Prime Minister’s intervention so that the gas supply would be supplied on the lines of fertiliser sector.
State chief minister Prithviraj Chavan had said the dip in allocation from the D6 block of the Krishna-Godavari basin had led to the 1,960-Mw Dabhol project operating at only a third of total capacity, as also the state-run generation company’s 850 Mw Uran project.
Chavan reminded Moily that the Union’s empowered group of ministers had already given a written assurance that Dabhol would be supplied gas on a priority basis, as was done in the case of the fertiliser sector.
Moily said he would draw the Prime Minister’s attention on Dabhol. And, to take the case for more supply with Coal India for the state, besides asking the ministry for environment and forests to move on early clearances for Maharashtra’s power projects.
The minister said he commended Maharashtra’s efforts to make the state free of load shedding by end-December.
