Brushing aside reports in a section of the media that Madhya Pradesh has suspended wheat procurement temporarily on account of problem of plenty, state authorities have clarified it has no storage problem up to four million tonnes (MT), and the procurement will continue till June 15. In a high-level meeting, the CM has asked officials to continue with the procurement in all districts.
“We have already procured more than 2.6 MT and barring .45 MT left to be lifted from mandis, the rest is in godowns. We haven’t suspended procurement anywhere except for a few stray cases on account of late arrival of lifting vehicle etc,” joint commissioner, state food and civil supplies corporation Ajit Kesri said.
