Minister of state for commerce and industry EMS Natchiappan today vowed to bring in more investments into the country through increasing bilateral trade with other countries.

“Our focus should be on satisfying the domestic demand and then we have to make all effort to send to various countries by trade relation and earn more money for the nation and also the… that will be our leading principal for working in this ministry,” Natchiappan today told reporters while assuming office today.

Natchiappan, a Supreme Court advocate, also said that the government has got “very strong capacity” in terms of production in sectors such as agriculture, industry and services. “We have got sufficient domestic demand and more than that, we will also export.”

Natchiappan will be looking after the industry portfolio in the ministry and will be taking care of issues concerning the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).  A member of the Rajya Sabha, Natchiappan, was selected for the portfolio by the UPA during its probably last major Cabinet reshuffle before elections that are due by May 2014.
