Naveen lays stone for Rs 800 cr worth projects

CM also announced plans for laying a ring-road around the Berhampur town to easy the traffic problem

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday laid foundation stones for 11 different projects with combined projected outlay of Rs 800 crore in and around Berhampur, the commercial hub of south Odisha.

The major projects are included three railways over bridges (ROB) (Rs 163-crore), drinking water project (Rs 415-crore), solid waste management project (SWMP) (Rs 70-crore), construction of 22-km-long road from Luchapada to Nandika (Rs 25.15-crore), city bus depot and terminal (Rs 12-crore)

The other projects are driving training and road safety institutes to be established in public private partnership (PPP) mode at Palur in association with Tata Motors at a cost of Rs 11 crore, eye hospital by the LV Prasad Eye Institute, the new buildings for the Berhampur Development Authority (BDA) and Industrial Training Institute (ITI).

Chief Minister also announced plans for laying a ring-road around the Berhampur town to easy the traffic problem. The 45-km long peripheral road will connect Ambapua, Kanishi, Jagannath Pur on the outskirt of the city, he said.
