Political alliances are unlikely to yield a decisive verdict in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and power would pass to the hands of smaller, regional parties, leading to the possibility of a badly hung Parliament, said two polls — the CNN-IBN-Hindu-CSDS survey and the Times Now-C-Voter survey — eight months before the general elections. Both predicted a minor increase in the number of seats for the BJP and a small increase in the votes of the Congress. The Times Now poll saw a decisive increase in the seats held by Jayalalithaa (9 to 29) and the Samajwadi Party (23 to 33).
