South Eastern Railway has registered a 5.42 per cent increase in passenger traffic at 91.15 million in the first four months of current fiscal as compared to 86.46 million passengers carried during the same period, the previous year.
As compared to Rs 370.99 crores earned last year, S E Railway has earned Rs 414.59 crores in the first four months of the current year registering an increase of 5.42 per cent.
In the freight sector, loading in the months of June and July have been encouraging due to which South Eastern Railway has gone past the last year’s figure and loaded 41.16 million tons during April-July, 2012 as against 40.94 million tons during the same period last year.
The loading figure of 41.16 million tons achieved during April to July 2012 is therefore 8.54 per cent higher than the target laid down by Railway Board.
