The West Bengal Government on Friday cleared a plan to construct buildings as part of creating new infrastructure for expansion of the IT sector and creating 40,000 new jobs for the youth.
Welcoming the plan initiated by the Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said the buildings, once completed, would create 38 lakh sq ft space for use in sectors like the IT and ITES.
According to NASSCOM calculations, the new infrastructure would generate employment for 40,000 youths.
Banerjee said that 99-point clearance required for setting up an industry in the state has been reduced to only seven-point, and which is now available through a single window for the convenience of investors.
Completion of modernisation of the NSC Bose International Airport by March 2012 and setting up of a number of small airports in the state would strengthen the infrastructure, she observed.
The NDITA Chairman and Municipal Affairs Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay said that in a job-starved and space-starved environment, the mission to create thousands of jobs in a short span of time has been possible because of efforts of a dedicated team.
With about 75,000 men and women working in the IT sector in the state, addition of 40,000 jobs would expand the sector further, he said.
