Sudha Pillai, an IAS officer of 1972 batch (Kerala cadre) today took oath as Member Secretary of the Planning Commission in the rank of Minister of State.
She was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is the Chairman of the Planning Commission.
Pillai was working as Secretary of the Commission and elevated as Member Secretary on May 7.
Pillai, a Harvard University product, had also served as Labour Secretary.
She has also served as Chairman and Managing Director of Kerala Finance Corporation and Principal Secretary, Finance.
Pillai, who at the Centre has served in the Ministries of Industry and Corporate Affairs, Panchayati Raj and Mines, is married to Union Home Secretary G K Pillai.
