Senior Tata Steel officials, who had been to trouble-torn Cairo to participate in a company conference were all safe and expected to return today, a company official said here.
Over 150 company officials, including Vice-Presidents A M Mishra, Varun Jha and Partho Sengupta who were in Cairo to participate in a conference, were all safe and half of them would be returning late in the day today, Sanjib Paul, Vice-President (Corporate Communication), Tata Steel said.
The Indian government, he said, had sent a plane to bring them back.
"We are expecting half of our officials to be back home today and the rest by tomorrow."
The company officials had left the country in 2-3 groups from Mumbai, Kolkata and Jamshedpur and had reached Cairo three days ago.
Paul, who himself was to join the officials for the purpose, had returned mid-way from Zurich after he was apprised of the trouble in Cairo.
