The proposed Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), christened as Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, would also traverse Allahabad.
The Akhilesh Yadav government is seeking Early Bird Project status for Allahabad manufacturing cluster, which would require 2,500 acres, of which 1,200 acres is already available with government agencies.

It is planned to be developed with world-class infrastructure for industries and residents. There would be zero discharge mechanism for water conservation and waste management.
The proposed township would be self-reliant in energy with transport network, bus terminals and cycle tracks.
The alignment of 1,840 km long EDFC starts from Punjab spans UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. UP is the biggest beneficiary of EDFC project with the share of 57 percent measuring 1,049 km dissecting the state.
The state has proposed 7 investment and industrial zones spread over 27,610 hectares along EDFC in the form of 2 National Investment & Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs) and 5 Industrial Zones (IZ).
The proposed NIMZs, include Auraiya National Investment & Manufacturing Zone and Jhansi National Investment & Manufacturing Zone. The IZs are Pashchimanchal Industrial Zone, Braj Industrial Zone, Kanpur Logistics hub, Allahabad-Naini-Bara Investment Zone and Mughal Sarai-Varansai-Mirzapur Investment Zone.
Yesterday, state infrastructure & industrial development principal secretary Surya Pratap Singh made a presentation before Allahabad Member of Parliament Rewati Raman Singh regarding the development plan.
UP State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) managing director Manoj Singh informed UPSIDC would take up the development of infrastructure in the industrial township for which transfer of land to UPSIDC is being expedited.
