CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today alleged that Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre had turned looting of public money and corruption into an "art" and it has become a part of their policy.
"Corruption is not centred on individuals, but has become part of policy. Congress by having an alliance with DMK in Tamil Nadu is justifying the 2G Spectrum allocation scam," he said at an election rally at Azhikode constituency in support of ruling Left Democratic Front's candidate Prakasan Master.
He said the UPA government's policies had only paved way for inflation, an example of which was the hike in petroleum products and also in other sectors.
Karat alleged that the Centre planned to decontrol diesel prices after the April 13 Assembly polls in five states, a move which will result in further rise in prices.
He praised the "achievements" of the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front Government in Kerala, saying it has become a model for other states.
The five year LDF rule had implemented several pro-people measures like issue of rice at Rs two per kg and steps to solve unemployment. Minorities were also protected only in Left ruled states, he claimed.
Stringent action had also been taken against corruption, a result of which a former minister was now in jail, he said.
