Wholesale inflation rises to six-month high of 3.59% in October

The rate of Wholesale Price Index (WPI) -based inflation, or wholesale inflation, rose to 3.59 per cent in October, against 2.6 per cent the previous month, showed official government data released on Tuesday.

Wholesale price inflation picked up in October to a six-month high, driven by faster rises in prices of food and fuel products, government data showed on Tuesday.

The rise compares with a 3.01 percent increase forecast by economists in a Reuters poll.

Wholesale food prices in October rose 3.23 per cent year-on-year, compared with a 1.99 per cent rise a month earlier, the data showed.
