The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) announced the results for the non-technical popular category (NTPC) second stage computer-based test (CBT) on May 25, 2017. The exam was held on January 17, 18 and 19, 2017 to fill 18,252 vacancies in various technical and non-technical posts of RRB. Candidates can check scores at www.rrcb.gov.in.
The advertisement regarding the exam was published in December 2015 and sought to recruit people for various posts, including assistant station master (ASM), traffic assistant clerk, goods guard, typist, apprentice and junior accounts assistant.
The RRB released the answer keys for stage two in January which are available on the official website.
Over 93 lakh candidates applied for the RRB NTPC vacancy. There were over 56 lakh candidates who had appeared for the stage one exam. Reportedly, more than three lakh candidates qualified for stage two.

The provisional shortlist of candidates who are to appear in aptitude test for the posts of ASM) and traffic assistant, and/or typing skill test for the posts of junior accounts assistant-cum-typist and senior clerk-cum-typist will be published shortly on the website of the RRBs. The aptitude test / typing skill test is likely to be held in June/July, 2017.
Aptitude test
Conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode, aptitude test may comprise of several test batteries. Candidates will have to qualify in each of these batteries to be considered for the posts of ASM and traffic assistant. The test marks of candidates, who qualify in each of the batteries individually, will be added to the second stage written examination marks, for drawing the merit list for the posts of ASM and traffic assistant.
The ratio of second stage CBT marks and aptitude test marks shall be 70:30. If a candidate scores less than the respective qualifying marks in any battery of the aptitude test, he/she will be eliminated from the selection process for ASM/traffic assistant. However, he/she will be eligible to be considered for other posts depending upon his/her merit cum preferences and suitability.
Candidates can visit the website of respective RRBs to view the mock test link for aptitude test. It will also include important instructions, test procedure, norms of evaluation etc. provided to guide the candidates appearing in the CBT.
Typing skill test
The typing skill test is qualifying in nature. The candidates appearing in test have to type in the language opted for during on-line application stage. They have to type 300 words at the minimum speed of 30 w.p.m. in English or 250 words at 25 w.p.m. in Hindi on computer within 10 minutes to qualify in the test else they will be eliminated from the selection process for junior accounts assistant-cum-typist and senior clerk-cum-typist. They will, however, be eligible to be considered for other posts depending upon their merit cum preferences and suitability.
The roll numbers of the shortlisted candidates for aptitude test/typing skill test to be published on the RRB websites shortly, may not include roll numbers of candidates being provisionally considered for the posts of commercial apprentice, traffic apprentice and goods guard based on their merit and sequence of options.
