Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today called upon the electorate to wipe out the Congress from Punjab's political horizon, alleging that it meted out step-motherly treatment to the state.

Addressing a rally in support of SAD candidate from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, he urged the people to defeat Congress so that "friendly" NDA government led by Narendra Modi could be formed at the Centre.

Badal said Congress this time will not be able to win more than 75 seats in the country.

Badal said the Congress has pressed its entire state leadership, including former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, into the fray after foreseeing that their ship is sinking.

Seeking votes for Dhindsa, he said, "If farmers want to turn agriculture as a profitable business, youths want to generate employment avenues, traders want to boost trade and industry then the victory of Dhindsa with a huge margin is the need of the hour."

On comedian-turned-politician Bhagwant Mann, who is the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Sangrur, Badal said, "Mann is a seasonal bird... After his crushing defeat from the Lehra Assembly seat in 2012 on a Peoples Party of Punjab ticket, he never showed his face to the electorate.
