The BJP Monday accused the Congress and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram of being the "biggest patrons of crony capitalism".
"Congress and Chidambaram are the biggest patrons of crony capitalism," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The BJP's reaction came after Chidambaram Monday criticised the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, saying his brand of liberalism was "crony capitalism" and aims to appease only a section of businesses.
"Chidambaram is speaking a white lie when he says Narendra Modi's business model is that of crony capitalism," Prasad said, adding that the 2G scam was the classic example of crony capitalism.
"Chidambaram's decision to run away from the polls was the first open confession by Congress that there is no will to fight," he added.
