India's World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev today refuted reports that he would be joining Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and campaign for their candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"Let me clarify it through the national news agency that I am not joining Aam Aadmi Party. There has been reports that I will be officially joining AAP and but I can assure you that nothing of that sort is happening," Kapil, who came to the media box told PTI here.

He said that he wanted to clear the air regarding rumours of his joining politics as he saw some of the websites have released stories on him and Bollywood actor Aamir Khan joining the Kejriwal-led party.

"Since I am here in Bangladesh for my media commitments, I saw on various websites that I along with Aamir Khan will be joining AAP. I have heard that Aamir has already issued a clarification and now I am also doing the same," Kapil said.

Asked if he would join politics in near future, the legendary all-rounder said, "I have no political aspirations. That's it. As a responsible citizen of the country, it is my duty to support good people. Irrespective of any political party, I am a supporter of good people who want to do something for the society.
