A crucial rally to decide on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal’s candidature from the much-hyped Varanasi seat in Uttar Pradesh has been postponed after the authorities denied permission, due to local body elections in the state.

The rally was scheduled for Sunday. “The rally has been postponed to March 25 (Tuesday) after the district magistrate informed us about the local body elections in the region,” Nagendar Sharma, official spokesperson and media co-ordinator of Kejriwal, told Business Standard.

The biennial elections of the state legislative council will be held on Sunday.
