“On 9th I will file my nomination papers for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat. Going to meet Atalji at his residence to seek his blessings,” Modi wrote on his Twitter page. This will be for the first time that Modi will be contesting a Lok Sabha election. Modi will also be contesting from Varanasi seat in Uttar Pradesh.
In Gujarat where the polling is scheduled for April 30, the last date for filing nomination is April 9. A large number of Modi supporters and partymen are likely to accompany Modi on his way to Vadodara returning officers office.
In Vadodara Congress has pitched activist turned politician Mandhusudan Mistry against Modi. Mistry was incharge of the Uttar Pradesh state till he was given mandate by the Congress to fight Lok Sabha elections. Last week Mistry and 20 of his supporters were arrested for vandalism and rioting. Mistry had tried to pull down posters of Modi in Vadodara city.
