Advani said the Congress won the highest number of seats in the Lok Sabha election under the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi. “However, people threw out that government after one Bofors scam. Now, there have been dozens of scams and there is no limit to corruption. The Congress itself has ensured its defeat in the ensuing election. When results will be out on May 16, it will be clear that the Congress has lost and Mahayuti (grand alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena, Republican Party of India, Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha) has won. No one can prevent Mahayuti from coming to power,” he said.
He added that he had been associated with Gujarat for a very long time. Chief minister Modi brought transformation in that state. There was transformation in Madhya Pradesh under chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and in Chhattisgarh under chief minister Raman Singh. It proves that the BJP can serve people well not only as an opposition party but also when it gets power.
Advani said the party will be successful in this election thanks to the work done by the NDA government under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and BJP chief ministers.
He said that he has witnessed national elections in the country since the first one in 1952. But never ever he has seen a situation like this, when the outcome of the election is pre decided. People have decided that the Congress party government would be defeated. Congress party had got least 114 seats in Lok Sabha in 1999 election. In this election that party would get lesser number of seats which would not be even in three digits.
