 "Shettar slams Deve Gowda")
Leader of opposition in the legislative assembly and former chief minister Jagadish Shettar condemned former Prime minister H D Deve Gowda for his reported statements that he would leave Karnataka in case Narendra Modi became the prime minister.
Addressing a public rally held as part of the BJP’s election campaign here at the weekend, Shettar said he came to know about Gowda issuing such a statement through the media.
“Earlier, writer U R Ananthamurthy had issued a similar statement. Now, a senior politician like Gowda has issued such a statement. What has happened to these so-called seniors,” he asked.
Former minister and BJP leader Babagouda Patil took a serious exception to Congress leaders raking up the issue of the marital status of Narendra Modi.
“National issues concerning the people’s welfare should be discussed and debated during elections to the Lok Sabha. But sadly, the Congress is harping on irrelevant issues and is engaged in character assassination. However, the voters are more sensible and they will not heed to cheap anti-propaganda. The Congress has run out of issues and to cover up its gross failure at the Centre, it is stooping to such a low level of raking up personal issues,” Babagouda asserted.

Shettar added that Gowda’s statements showed the latter’s panic over the Modi wave. “Gowda is afraid his political career is nearing an end,” Shettar ridiculed.
