At least 21 opposition parties, including Indian National Congress and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu have moved the top court seeking better safety norms to prevent the tampering of electronic voting machines. 

The parties have also sought that at least 50 per cent of the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail machines be tallied with the voting machines to avoid any discrepancy. The parties have appro­ached the top court following a meeting of 15 non-BJP parties held at Sharad Pawar's residence in New Delhi in February.
