Axis Bank, India's third largest private sector bank today reported a rise of 31 per cent at Rs 655.98 crore in its net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2009 as against a net profit of Rs 500.86 crore reported in the same quarter a year ago.
Although interest earned by the company fell by 3.3 per cent to Rs 2,883 crore as against Rs 2,984 crore, its total income grew by 4.17 per cent to Rs 3,871 crore from Rs 3,716 crore during the reporting quarter.
There was a 35 per cent rise in other income which stood at Rs 988 crore from Rs 732 crore, according to the release sent by the bank to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
