The Bank of Baroda (BoB), under its strategic expansion programme, will be opening around 500 automated teller machine (ATM) centres by March '03 across the country, said P S Shenoy, chairman and managing director of BoB.

He said, "In the international market too, we are planning to open three more branches in -- Malaysia, Tanzania and the US -- in due course of time. We, at the global level, are already operating 52 offices in 16 countries now."

Shenoy added widespread use of information technology (IT) is the need of the hour to increase productivity, efficiency and the services. We are positively marching ahead to adopt IT at our bank in a big way."

He was here to address the 8th National Conference of All India Bank of Baroda Employees Federation at Anand on Saturday.

Shenoy mentioned that the union and the management are two wheels of the bank and both should run simultaneously in coordination with each other so that the bank can function smoothly. The union should always have innovative and constructive approach which will lead the bank to progress.
