Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has announced that R Koteeswaran, its managing director and chief executive officer, demitted office on June 30, 2016, on superannuation.

He took over as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the bank on December 31, 2014. Prior to this, he was executive director, Bank of India from August, 2013 till he joined Indian Overseas Bank.

As Executive Director of Bank of India, he was responsible for strategic business development, control and monitoring of Information Technology, Human Resources, SME, Treasury, Transaction Banking, Financial Inclusion and Retail Business segments covering over 4,831 branches of the bank across India.

He was also Director of Star Union Daiichi Insurance Company and Bank of India New Zealand Ltd prior to joining Bank of India, he was working with Bank of Baroda.
