Citi has appointed Johanna Dee Chua as Chief Economist for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Johanna takes over from Yiping Huang who is leaving Citi for an academic role in Beijing.
Prior to her appointment, Johanna was the Chief Asia Emerging Market trading strategist where she was responsible for external debt and local/FX markets research. In her new role, Johanna will be responsible for economics research across the Asia ex-Japan region.
‘Johanna has built a formidable reputation in the market as the No 1 ranked sovereign analyst in the region. We are confident that with the strength of our economics team throughout the region, we will further deepen our research offering,’ said Adrian Faure, Head of Citi Investment Research and Analysis (CIRA).
Prior to joining Citi in 2000, Johanna completed her doctorate in economics at Harvard University.
