The World Bank had sanctioned Rs 1,852.74 crore to the Tamil Nadu government for carrying out various social projects in the state.
According to the revenue department, the bank has sanctioned Rs 1,551.40 crore for construction of houses for the Tsunami-hit.
The implementing agency for the project will be the Rural Development, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board.
Among others, Rs 122.20 crore would be used for revitalising the livelihoods of Tsunami-affected families engaged in fishing, agriculture, horticulture and livestock, restoration of damaged fisheries infrastructure and re-establishment of safety-at-sea systems and services, a statement said.
