At least 10 people were killed and 33 others injured on Friday when a bus collided with a tractor-trailer near Ciudad Juarez, Mexican authorities said.
The bus ran into the truck from behind shortly after 5 am, according to the initial report.
The 10 fatalities include two minors, EFE news agency reported.
Among those injured was the bus driver, identified only as a 58-year-old male, who remains in custody pending an investigation.
The bus was en route from Torreon to Ciudad Juarez, a metropolis just across the Rio Grande from El Paso, Texas.
Several of the injured are listed in critical condition at hospitals in Ciudad Juarez.
