 "GVK Hancock appoints ex-Rio veteran as CEO")
GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited's Australian subsidiary - GVK Hancock Coal Pty Ltd - has announced the appointment of Darren Yeates as its new chief executive officer. Yeates will lead the company's Galilee Basin mining projects in Australia.
Earlier, he was with Rio Tinto Coal Australia, in the roles of chief operating officer and acting CEO.
"My immediate focus will be on continuing to build on the significant progress achieved to date on the projects and on driving a clear path forward to project delivery," said Yeates.

In a release to Bombay Stock Exchange, GVK vice chairman Sanjay Reddy said, "I look forward to working with the new CEO to bring these projects through the next chapter with final operational, construction and financing arrangements that enable us to bring online a new world-class coal basin".
