Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said Islamabad is ready to hold talks with India only if the Asian neighbour is serious about resolving the Kashmir issue.

Speaking to reporters in Baku before wrapping up his three-day visit to Azerbaijan, Sharif said Pakistan had offered holding of talks on outstanding issues several times but India did not reciprocate, reports the Dawn.

Asserting that Kashmir was main cause of unrest in the region, he said that India must show seriousness for resolution of the issue and honour its commitment under the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

Sharif added that Pakistan was committed to peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.

The Prime Minister rejected Indian allegations that Pakistan was responsible for the attack on an Indian Army base camp in Uri.

Sharif said that India levelled allegations against Pakistan within six hours of the Uri incident and reiterated that no infiltration took place across the Line of Control (LoC).

In September, India had blamed Pakistan for the September 18 attack on the Uri Army camp, a claim which Pakistan has rejected.

Pakistan also refuted India's claim that it carried out "surgical strikes" on militants across the LoC.
