Syria's Foreign Ministry has denied claims about military gas attack in northern Aleppo province, media reports said.

The ministry denied any gas attack by the Syrian army on the rebel-held neighbourhood of Sukkary, which allegedly took place on Wednesday, Xinhua quoted state news agency SANA as saying.

The ministry accused the rebels and their regional and international backers of carrying out gas attacks against the Syrian civilians.

It further expressed readiness to cooperate with the Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to investigate such crimes.

A day earlier, activists accused the Syrian army of using chlorine gas against the Sukkary neighbourhood in Aleppo, adding that civilians suffered from suffocation and breathing difficulties.
