The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) recently announced national level management test - IIFT 2017, an entrance exam for shortlisting candidates for admission to its flagship MBA International Business (MBA-IB) programme at IIFT Delhi and Kolkata campuses. 

The application process started on July 15, 2016. The last date to complete the process, either online or offline, is September 5, 2016. The form can be filled and submitted online, or can be downloaded and sent to the examination authorities. 

The exam will be conducted in an offline paper-pen based mode and is scheduled for Sunday, November 27, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. An annual test, the exam will be conducted in centres across 20 cities in India. 

Eligibility criteria
 
Candidates with a recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline are eligible to apply. Students in their final year of graduation can also apply, but must submit proof of requisite qualification by October 7, 2017. There is no age limit specified by the institute. Seats are reserved as per Government of India rules and the reservations are subject to candidates meeting the admission requirement of the Institute under different categories.

IIFT has a few seats reserved for foreign nationals, non-resident Indians (NRIs) and children of NRIs. To be eligible for admissions, the candidates must have General Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores declared post January 1, 2015. The scorecard should reach the institute before March 31, 2017. The last date for obtaining prospectus and receipt of applications for foreign nationals, NRIs and children of NRIs is February 15, 2017. The admissions, under this category, will be based on their GMAT score only and candidates are not required to appear in the entrance test. 

Application forms are available in both online and offline. The application fee is Rs. 1550 for General & OBC-NC, Rs. 775 for SC, ST and PH and Rs. 4550 for the for foreign nationals, NRI and children of NRI category candidates.

The total number of seats offered by IIFT Delhi and Kolkata campuses for MBA-IB final admission is 210 and 140 respectively, inclusive of all categories. According to media reports, around 50,000 students are estimated to register for this year’s test. Last year, a total of 42,976 applicants registered and 37,723 appeared for the test.

Only registered candidates will be receiving IIFT 2016 the admit card from the officials, most likely in the last week of October 2016.

Entrance test 
 
IIFT will conducted the entrance test in centres at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur and Visakhapatnam. Based on marks obtained, candidates will be shortlisted for second phase of selection procedure. The next step comprises essay writing, group discussion and interview rounds.

The offline paper-pen based mode scheduled for November 27, 2016 will be of two hours duration. A multiple-choice objective type test will be divided into four sections: English comprehension, general knowledge & awareness, logical reasoning and quantitative ability. The number of questions will be 120 and there will be differential marking scheme for each section. For each wrong answer, there will be negative marking of 1/3 of the allotted marks.

Application process
 
Candidates can obtain prospectus and application form personally from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi- 110016, or 1583 Madhurdaha, Ward No. 108, Borough XII, Kolkata - 700107. The offices are open on all working days, Monday to Friday, between 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The application will be available on payment of Rs. 1550 for General & OBC-NC, Rs. 775 for SC, ST and PH and Rs. 4550 for the for foreign nationals, NRI and children of NRI category candidates. The payments have to be made in cash only, no demand draft (DD) is accepted at the campus. 

The brochure and application form can be obtained through post by sending the request application stating address where application form is to be delivered, DD of requisite amount in favour of Indian Institute Of Foreign Trade payable at New Delhi. The application should be addressed to Section Officer (GSD), Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, B-21, Qutab Institutional Area, New Delhi - 110 016, and reach the office latest by September 5, 2016. The application envelop should also include requisite self attested category certificate, two self addressed adhesive stickers/ name slips with address (not the envelop) for sending the brochure and application form. 

To apply online, candidate should have scanned photo and signature on a white background in .jpg / .jpeg format only (file size not exceeding 50kb each), and a valid credit or debit card (Master/ VISA) or DD of the requisite amount ready before initiating the process.

1. Log on to edu.iift.ac.in
2. Click on Entrance Exam of MBA(IB) Full-Time 2017-19 in the Admissions 2017 tab
3. Register online 
4. Click on Apply Now and choose the category to apply in
5. Fill in the basic details required for registration carefully
6. Submit the form
7. Application number will be generated and intimated through an email to the registered id
8. Log in to the website using the application no and password entered while registering
9. Follow the links to complete the registration process
10. The intimation regarding successful registration will be sent to the registered email id
11. Make the application fee payment through credit/debit cards (VISA / Master) 
12. If payment is to be made via DD, fill in the details of the DD in the online application form
13. Upload your scanned photograph and signature
14. Get a print-out of the filled-in application form for future reference
15. Ensure that you have successfully logged out of the website after completion of the registration process
