The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A)'s Consult Club, an in-house body of students, has partnered with Breakthrough Management Group International (BMGI), a global consulting firm for organising a pan-IIM event on sector analysis. Titled 'Sectorama', the event is a sector-analysis contest for B-school students held by the IIM-A Consult Club.

This year's focus sectors include pharma, retail, technology, media and telecom, automobile, financial services and energy.

While the premier B-school had tied up with Tata last year, this year IIM-A has roped in BMGI for Sectorama 2011. Talking about the tie-up, Naresh Raisinghani, CEO and Managing Director, BMGI said, "We look forward to some of the sharpest minds across the best management schools compete to select the upcoming industry analysts of the year."

Being a pan-IIM event, respective clubs of each of the IIMs have been working on the event, said Rahul Venkatraj, student co-ordinator, IIMA Consult Club. "The Consulting Clubs of these IIMs are working closely to take this event to the next level," he added.

Setting a precedent for B-school events across the country, Sectorama's preliminary round will be organised in parallel at IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow.

In addition, there is a parallel online round where hundreds of teams from the top B-schools in the country are expected to participate. About 175 teams from India's top 25 b-schools have already registered within the first day of launch of the event.

A global consulting firm, BMGI has working with an impressive list of clients in India that includes Accenture, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, HUL, Marico, Oracle, Reliance Industries, Vodafone, to name a few. Meanwhile, the prelims are scheduled to be held on July 11 and July 12. The 12 finalists will be flown down to IIMA for an action-packed final round at IIM Ahmedabad on August 14.
