Close on the heels of detecting four H1N1 cases on its campus, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) conducted a workshop on the emerging epidemic of swine flu and the issues arising out of it for academic institutions.
The workshop, scheduled on Friday, in collaboration with Indian Public Health Association (Gujarat Chapter), saw the participation of heads of academic institutions, medical doctors, officals from the state government and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health department, health NGOs and other civil society groups.
The workshop is part of the institute's ongoing efforts to deal with the current situation of the epidemic and deliberate on policy options and programmes for the society. The corporation has suggested steps to be taken for campus residents and personnel of the service providers to the institute.
The institute claims that it is following necessary steps specified by the corporation, to deal with the situation while continuing to work normally as advised by the government.
