Ending the first leg of placements at its campus on a high note, The Institute of Management, Nirma University (IMNU) has witnessed the highest salary of Rs 10 lakhs per annum. However, the same didn't see any rise as compared to previous year.

Out of the total batch size of 180 for the period 2010-12, around 130 students were recruited by over 20 firms that participated the first phase of the placement process. According to Harshal Bhagwat, manager, corporate relations, Institute of Management, Nirma University, while the first phase saw 100 per cent placement of students, the institute is now preparing for the second phase that will begin in the second week of January, 2012.

The first phase of placement saw participation of companies from sectors like IT/ITeS, automobile, pharmaceuticals, market research, financial services and consumer durables, with an average salary of Rs 8 lakhs per annum. "Feedback received from the companies on campus and post recruitments has been overwhelming and companies invariably would be returning in the years to follow," said Bhagwat.

Meanwhile, tackling the issues in the global economy and slowdown, some new initiatives like the business simulation were introduced in the curriculum to equip the students for global challenges.

"In this global simulation test, IMNU students fared better than some of the top notch B-Schools in India and abroad. At IMNU relations with the corporate is nurtured and inputs related to the course content and new concepts are invited via various forums like Management Conclaves and HR Conclaves. These initiatives have been accepted with arms wide open in the corporate arena have received appreciation from the student’s community as well. IMNU's strong alumni network eases the task, which was very evident this year as many alumni returned to their alma mater to recruit new graduates," Bhagwat added.
