IKEA has unveiled a report titled 'The Play Report 2015' which covers subjects such as children's development and play, and young people and parents' perception of family life at home. The report is based on a study conducted across 12 countries including India, UK, France,Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, USA, China and South Korea. The report also looks at the usage of media devices by parents and children. According to the findings of the report, four out of 10 parents think mobile devices are replacing family communication. And 25 per cent of the parents admit that sometime social media and texting is the only way to communicate with their immediate family. Parents from India (38 per cent) and China (31 per cent) report that playing games on a smartphone features in family time. A majority of the children (75 per cent) and young people (87 per cent) believe that the internet is a wonderful tool for learning and four out of 10 children and six out of 10 young people believe that using the internet regularly will help prepare them for a future career. Also, 70 per cent of parents recognise that the internet is a wonderful educational tool.
