102 stocks outperform markets in August
La Opala RG, Jubilant Life, 3M India, Chennai Petro, Ceat, Symphony, Escorts and FDC have rallied more than 15% each during the month.

Even as the benchmark indices is set to report its worst monthly decline in the past three years, more than 100 stocks have bucked the weak trend to outperform the markets.
Out of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) S&P BSE-500 stocks, 102 stocks have outperformed the benchmark indices by recording positive returns. Of these, 25 stocks gained more than 10% and another 27 companies moved up between 5% and 10%.
La Opala RG, Jubilant Lifesciences, 3M India, Chennai Petroleum Corporation, Symphony, Ceat, Escorts, FDC, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Ipca Laboratories, Amara Raja Batteries, eClerx Services and Astral Poly Technik are among 15 stocks that rallied more than 15% during the month.
Meanwhile, 87 stocks have fallen by less than 5% compared to a nearly-6% decline in the S&P BSE-500 index so far in the current month till Friday.
Thus far in August, the S&P BSE Sensex has corrected by 6.1%, its sharpest monthly fall since May 2012 when the benchmark had declined 6.4% in a single month.
La Opala RG, the largest gainer among BSE-500 stocks, has rallied 35% from Rs 428 to Rs 578 on Friday. The houseware maker had reported a strong 51% year-on-year jump in standalone net profit at Rs 9.21 crore in the June 30, 2015 quarter against Rs 6.11 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous year.
Escorts hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 181 on the BSE in intra-day trades today. The stock has rallied 27% from Rs 142 on July 31, 2015. Earlier this month, ace investor Rakesh Jhunjunwala had increased his stake in Escorts, India’s leading tractor manufacturer, to 9.79% from 9.28% through the open market.
Last week, Escorts and Tata International, its Cambodian business partner for tractors, launched their exclusive Farmtrac showroom in Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia.
Jubilant Life Sciences has appreciated by 34% from Rs 263 to Rs 353 on the BSE. The pharmaceutical company had reported an over 26 times jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 128 crore for the June quarter, helped by lower expenses. Meanwhile, according to media reports, brokerage Nomura has raised target price on the stock to Rs 459 from the earlier Rs 226, citing attractive valuations.
