33 stocks hit 52-week lows on BSE-500

Nine PSUs - ONGC, Gail, NTPC, IFCI, NMDC, NHPC, MOIL, Nalco and Vijaya Bank - have hit 52-week lows on the BSE.

An over-700 points correction in the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index Sensex in the past two trading sessions has dragged 33 stocks from BSE-500 to 52-week lows today.

Nine public sector undertakings (PSUs) - Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Gail (India), NTPC, IFCI, NMDC, NHPC, MOIL, National Aluminium and Vijaya Bank -  have hit their respective 52-week lows on the BSE.

Three companies - Cairn India, Vedanta and Hindustan Zinc – of the Anil Agarwal promoted Vedanta Group, two each from Tata Group - Tata Motors and Tata Power Company; and Anil Dhirubhai Ambani (ADAG) Group - Reliance Capital and Reliance Infrastructure – are quoting at 52-week lows.

Hindalco Industries, Just Dial, Aban Offshore, Adani Power, EID Parry, Shree Renuka Sugars, Sobha, South Indian Bank and VST Industries are among notable stocks from the BSE-500 index to hit 52-week lows today.

At 11:05 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading down 413 points at 27,195, extending its previous day’s 324 points fall amid drop in US stocks and weakness in Asian markets in the past couple of days.

On Thursday, US markets declined sharply, reaching the lowest level in 2015 amid worries over the global slowdown. European markets tanked on the back of latest US Fed commentary, steep decline in oil and continued concerns on growth in Greece and China.

A sharp sell-off was witnessed across the world after the release of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes on Wednesday night suggested that Fed can hike rates in September. A continuous fall in commodity prices, rupee weakness, sell-off by foreign portfolio investors and profit booking dampened the sentiment of the investors, said Gaurav Jain, Director, Hem Securities.

Meanwhile, including 33 stocks from the BSE-500 index, a total 92 scrips have hit 52-week lows on the BSE.
